Pilates Community Forum > Travel opportunities for Pilates Instructors?

I'm interested in doing some teaching on the road and finding ways to pair my job as a Pilates instructor with my love of traveling. Any suggestions for finding short-term (1-4 week) teaching gigs in desirable locations, either in the U.S. or abroad? I also teach yoga... Not quite ready to host my own retreat, so I'm looking for already established wellness centers, spas, etc. Thanks!

Hi Laura,
I just took a group of clients to Cascina Papaveri in Italy. They also have a guest teacher program for which you might qualify. You can check them out at www.cascinapapaveri.com.
Good luck and have fun!

Hi - I've taught at various resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico through NRG2GO. (http://www.nrg2go.net/) The resorts to which they send guest instructors are all top notch and NRG2GO is very organized and makes the resort teaching experience a great one. Along with Pilates requirements include some yoga and aqua stretch instruction.

This is something as a Pilates instructor that I would be interested in. It looks as though they are mostly in exchange for room & board, flights not included. Are there any resorts that offer compensation or airfare as well?

Is there any more recent information on teaching pilates as a guest instructor at a spa or resort? Are there any domestic studios that offer visiting instructors?

Hello there! I currently own and run a Pilates and Yoga studio. However, I am selling it in September/October and am looking to travel abroad teaching. I love instructing and want to move away from the business aspect and reunite with my passion for teaching. I am open to most places around the globe, as I am an avid traveler!! I have several years of experience in many different forms of Yoga/Pilates!

I found out that teaching workshops is a great way to travel. This way you can offer something special to the place you are visiting and they often receive you eagerly because it will be something different for them too. Is there such as a Pilates Teacher organization (agent) where we can put our profiles and get promoted?

I find myself in a unique position. I am a Pilates instructor/teacher trainer, currently serving as Director of Education for a Pilates studio in Manhattan looking for a position abroad. I have been teaching for the last 15 years and doing teacher training for the last 10.
Here's the unique part: I'm also a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist and craniosacral practitioner in private practice. I am very passionate about melding the three disciplines in treatment yet am equally happy to provide stand alone Pilates services. I am currently gathering data for a PhD dissertation on the efficacy of Pilates and Chinese Medicine in the treatment of anxiety/depression/personality disorder and would love to have a wide sampling of cases. I would love to find posts ranging from guest instructor to permanent resident practitioner with flight plus compensation included.
Referrals and guidance are greatly appreciated.

I am a member of Fit Bodies, Inc., a booking agency for fitness professionals. You can search for Caribbean resorts that need fitness teachers for any given week(s). I took my family to Puerto Aventuras, Mexico 2 years ago. I taught 2 classes a day on the beach (!) in exchange for all inclusive accommodations for the 4 of us. It was fantastic! Check it out!
